The Redhead Duck is a medium-sized diving duck. The adult male has a blue bill, a red head and neck, a black breast, yellow eyes and a grey back. The adult female has a brown head and body and a darker bluish bill with a black tip.
I painted these Redhead Ducks as my entry into the 2010/2011 California Duck Stamp Contest. I took 3rd place Nation wide and was the only California artist to get into the top 3. The competition was tough and I'm so proud to get a ribbon at all!!! The number of colors in most Ducks or Geese are minimal compared to the Color Spectrum worn by the Redhead. This Waterfowl is why I Love Painting Wildlife Art with all of its Diversity.
